Apologizing

March 14, 2010

Do people actually mean it when they say “sorry”? When I don’t mean it, I just say it so I don’t cause any more trouble. It doesn’t always mean I’m wrong and the other person is right, it’s just that I value the friendship more. Why bother saying sorry if we don’t even mean it? I find myself saying sorry most of the time instead of others. It’s really a bad habit. I don’t want others to think bad about me, so usually I’d be the first to say it multiple times. When I do mean it, how can I show them that I actually do? Do they think that I say it only because I pity them? I don’t know. From my point of view, it’s more meaningful to say “I apologize” than “I’m sorry”. The word sorry doesn’t really have meanings to me anymore. It’s like replying “lol” when you have nothing to say back. Why not use “Haha”, which is more effective? I would, and that’s what I do. People need to prove what they mean, not just say it.
